This year, in its 17th year, the new BMW M4 is a very special one ... - It premieres at the Geneva Motor Show.

Ever since 1999 BMW M is a dependable partner when it comes to Safety for the MotoGP, the pinnacle of motorcycle racing. The cars are always a real eye candy, but this year there’s more - the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car is special, because it premieres the innovative water injection technology which will be used for the first time this year.

The high-performance BMW M4 Coupé, with its six-cylinder inline engine, forms the basis for this Safety Car. Like all the Safety Cars, the BMW M4 Coupé has also been further optimised - for example, the rearseat was removed and RECARO racing seats with Schroth belts installed.
Also the Safety Car is equipped with an extensive range of BMW M Performance Parts. A carbon rear spoiler reduces the amount of lift on the rear axle. LED lights on the front apron and roof, together with the exclusive livery, mean there is no mistaking that this high-performance car is a Safety Car.

In Geneva the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car premieres for the first time. And shines bright - to the future of the BMW M Division. During the year BMW M will begin the production of a model featuring water injection.

Water injection is a system designed to increase the performance and reduce the consumption of combustion engines. It reduces the tendency for the engine to knock, whilst at the same time increasing the compression ratio. This way, the turbo engine can achieve optimal performance across a wide range of operating points.
